New Release

Tramp Harbor Red, Columbia Valley
A terrific blend of five barrels: three vintages (’03, ’04, and’05) and four different grape varieties: slightly more of Malbec, an equal amount of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, and a small amount of Cabernet Franc. This is a blend of extra wine, or barrels, that just didn’t fit into my varietal wines. Great for drinking now, it will continue to improve and should drink well in about three years.

Serve this with pizza with sausage, mozzarella, pesto and tomatoes, or burgers or any full flavored dish.

Vashon Island Grape Growers Wanted
We are looking for growers on Vashon Island to grow grapes for us. We will help you get started with advice and counsel, then you grow and harvest the grapes (with our help if needed), and we’ll make the wine.

Chalkboard & Events
This is where happenings are announced: a new release of wine, an event, a seasonal greeting, or just whimsy.

Saturday Concerts at the Winery

Vashon Winery continues with its popular and entertaining concerts at the winery. This year’s lineup is an eclectic mix of music, poetry and mythology.

June 7, 7pm: Michael Meade

You are invited to an evening of stories and poems that consider the origins and mysteries, the delights and seductions of the fruits of the vine and the depths of the wine.

Islander Michael Meade is a nationally renowned and respected storyteller and mythologist who spins his wit and intelligence exploring our world.

Meade says, ”Wine and the soul have always been entwined; both tend to improve and develop character as they age. The vine has always been connected to the divine whether it be to Bacchus and the dance of the “Bacchantes” or the shape-shifting revelations of Dionysus the lord of ecstasy and theater. The eternal vine winds its way through the valleys and hillsides of the world and through the hearts and minds of humankind. "

Also, Meade's latest book, The World Behind the World, will be available for sale.

August 23, 2pm-10pm:
Vashon Winery Folk Festival

Join a host of singers and bands, many islanders and some from town, as they play continuous folk music throughout the day. There will be one stage but many little gatherings of musicians. Headlining the event is Larry Murante at 7pm, with musical vignettes from others.

Murante, one of the NW's finest contemporary singer-songwriters, offers compassionate, socially conscious lyrics, but keeps the delivery upbeat and joyful, in an energetic folk/rock style.
